Properties of Metals vs. Nonmetals

Metals...
  - Have luster
  - Are malleable, which means it permits it to be flattened without shattering
  - React with acids
  - Conduct electricity
  - Are ductile, which means it permits it to be stretched into a wire without breaking

Nonmetals…
  - Lack luster
  - Appear dull
  - Are brittle, which is a property of a material that causes it to shatter under pressure
  - Do not react with acids
  - Do not conduct electricity
